El objetivo del presente libro es ofrecer al lector una perspectiva integradora de las diversas facetas vinculadas con la creación y la administración de empresas, abarcando desde la puesta en marcha de la idea de negocio y la gestión de las actividades funcionales, hasta las opciones estratégicas que promoverán el crecimiento de la compañía. Para ello, se combina el rigor teórico con la aplicación práctica, lo que facilitará la adquisición de conocimientos y su implantación dentro de la organización. En este sentido, se incluyen numerosos ejercicios prácticos (con su solución), casos de estudio, lecturas que ilustran la realidad empresarial dentro del ámbito nacional e internacional, y preguntas de autoevaluación. El contenido del manual se estructura en tres partes. En la primera parte -«Economía de la Empresa»- se estudian varias dimensiones básicas de la administración de empresas como los tipos de sistemas productivos y la decisión de localización, la productividad y los costes, la gestión de inventarios y la gestión de los recursos humanos. Los autores han intentado ofrecer un texto adaptado a las necesidades imperantes actualmente en las aulas universitarias y Escuelas de Negocios y en el ejercicio de la práctica empresarial, conjugando para ello aspectos de economía de la empresa, de emprendimiento, de dirección estratégica y de recursos humanos.
