En este volumen se publica por primera vez una de las obras más influyentes del intelectual español del siglo XV Alonso de Cartagena, presente en muchas de las bibliotecas coetáneas y de gran influencia en los terrenos literario y filosófico del humanismo peninsular. El texto de Alonso de Cartagena es resultado de la reelaboración y comentario de los conceptos Amor y Amistad de la Tabulatio et expositio Senecae de Luca Mannelli. A la edición crítica del Título de la amistança, con texto latino enfrentado de la Tabulatio, se suma un amplio panorama de su tradición manuscrita, así como de la difusión de Seneca y del compendio de Mannelli en la Castilla cuatrocentista.
