Este volumen desea proporcionar a futuros graduados en Magisterio una descripción del léxico del español o castellano acompañada de actividades o ejercicios, que pongan en juego la competencia instrumental y profesional del futuro docente. Sin ser una didáctica del léxico, no se pierde de vista la aplicación de los conocimientos acerca de las cuestiones escogidas para dicha descripción: la morfología léxica, la aceptación de préstamos o las creaciones metafóricas. Teniendo muy en cuenta al destinatario de este trabajo, se incluye un capítulo dedicado a herramientas y recursos para la enseñanza y aprendizaje del léxico. Mª Victoria Romero Gualda es Profesora Emérita de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Navarra a la que se incorporó en 1972. Su docencia se ha repartido entre Filología Española, Español como Lengua Extranjera, Lenguaje periodístico y Publicitario. Ha publicado artículos y libros Vocabulario de cine y televisión. El nombre: sustantivo y adjetivo, El español en los medios de comunicación, Para ver y para hablar, Léxico del español como segunda lengua: aprendizaje y enseñanza, Lenguaje publicitario, etc. e impartido cursos o seminarios en universidades españolas y extranjeras.
