La principal aportación de la lingüística guillaumiana es que parte del estudio de la lengua en potencia, para concluir con los infinitos usos que puede hacerse de ella, mientras que el resto de teorías lingüísticas recorren el camino inverso, es decir parten de los usos de la lengua mediante el estudio de los textos escrito u orales, para posteriormente establecer la norma lingüística. El trabajo aporta perspectivas novedosas que pueden ser aplicadas a cualquier lengua del mundo, aunque se centre en el estudio de los paradigmas verbales de la lengua francesa y sus aplicaciones a la traducción al español.

Está elaborada en 19 lenguas (albanés, alemán, árabe, chino, danés, finlandés, francés, griego, inglés, italiano, lingala, neerlandés, noruego, polaco, portugués, rumano, ruso, serbocroata, sueco), divida en secciones (datos personales, datos críticos, síntomas, etc.) y diseñada en columnas bilingües de fácil uso (alemán/español; danés/español, etc).
