Dentro de las especialidades del régimen jurídico de las cooperativas, una de las más características es el de las dotaciones a Fondos Obligatorios. Entre estos, se encuentra el Fondo de Educación y Promoción, que se dota con resultados de la sociedad, pero se destina a finalidades de formación y promoción del cooperativismo, así como a actividades proclives al bienestar social y del entorno. Esto es, responde a un fundamento de solidaridad externa a la cooperativa, y no de solidaridad mutual, como el régimen del retorno.
