Víctor Said Armeto (Pontevedra 1871 -Madrid 1914) es el primer catedrático en España de Literatura gallego-portuguesa y continuador de una estirpe de pensadores que transitaron en Galicia en el republicanis­mo más radical del Sexenio Democrático (Indalecio Armesto o Jesús Muruais). Co­laborador estrecho de Casto Sampedro en la Sociedad Arqueológica de Pontevedra, fue elegido entre los 10 primeros intelectuales que se convocaron en 1905, bajo la presi­dencia de Manuel Murguía, para la constitu­ción de la Academia Gallega. Periodista, folclo­rista, filólogo, filósofo, catedrático de universidad y literato, Said encamina su línea de pensamiento hacia temas propios de las preocupaciones regeneracionistas finise­culares (educación, utopía social, etc.), pero sus tendencias yorientaciones, en princi­pio de profundo contenido social y político, se van alejando de la realidad diaria, refugiándose en la abstracción del medievalismo científico y en una realidad de Galicia enriquecedora, ideal, esteticista y plena de contenidos identi­tarios de sabor romántico.
