The fact that the city of Barcelona is a benchmark in the international sphere of contemporary architecture is amply demonstrated by this book, which looks at the most notable buildings of the last ten years. The detailed monographic reports by photographers provide an opportunity to appreciate the complexity of the Barcelona Convention Center (Josep Lluís Mateo), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Richard Meier), the Botanical Gardens and Institute (Carles Ferrater), the Barcelona Auditorium concert hall (Rafael Moneo), the Forum Building (Herzog & De Meuron), a block of buildings in the Fort Pienc neighborhood (Josep Llinàs), Santa Caterina Market (Miralles & Tagliabue), the home for the elderly in the Forum area (Clotet & Paricio) and the Agbar Tower (Jean Nouvel), all new referents characteristic of a type of architecture that is building the Barcelona of the 21st century.
